Can I Draw Off Of My First Husband's Social Security If I've Remarried?

Hey Larry,
I was married to my 1st husband for 31 years. He died from a heart problem at age 51. I have remarried. Could I draw off his social security now that I am 61 years old.

Hi,

You could only qualify for survivor benefits on your first husband's record if you're either a) unmarried, or b) your current marriage took place when you were at least age 60.

Best, Jerry
