My husband is 64 and receiving SSDI benefits. I will be 62 in November 2017. Could I apply for spousal SSDI benefits at 62 and switch to my own SS record at or after age 66 ys and 2 months?
Hi,
No, assuming that you don't have an eligible child in care. Since you were born after January 1 1954, you will be deemed to be filing for both spousal benefits and for retirement benefits on your own record whenever you file for either type of benefit (https://www.ssa.gov/planners/retire/deemedfaq.html).
Best, Jerry
