Can My Wife Get Spousal Benefits?

I am 70 and my wife is 64. We both started SS benefits at 62. We never thought about spousal benefits, until we saw your website.
I get a SS gross of $1545 and she gets a gross of $1490. A $55 difference.
Can she get a spousal benefit of $55 more and maybe even a retroactive amount?

Hi,

It doesn't sound like it. Your wife would only be eligible for additional spousal benefits if 50% of your full retirement age rate (PIA) was higher than her own full retirement age rate. So, if the amounts you listed are accurate then she wouldn't qualify for spousal benefits.

Best, Jerry
