Is This How Social Security's Site Works?

I applied for my spousal benefits with the intention of filing for my own benefits at age 70. Note that I was born in 1951 so it was my understanding that I would be able to apply for spousal benefits first and wait till 70 to maximize my benefits. However, when I go to my social security account my benefits amounts no longer show. Is that the way the site works? Mote I am a user of maxi planner and are following the suggested recommendations to maximize retirement income.

Hi,

Yes, that's one of the limitations of Social Security's website. For whatever reason, once you start drawing benefits you can no longer get a benefit estimate online, even if you're drawing a different type of benefit.

Best, Jerry
