I filed and suspended early this year. I am not getting any benefits and pay medicare directly.
I continue to work.
Under my status of file and suspend as I continue to work do my earnings continue to count?I ask because when I go to ssa.gov and try to see my ss report it says I don't have a report since I am already getting benefits.
I understand that I will be rewarded for waiting till 70 to start my social security benefits and also my wife will be able to benefit when she turns 66.
I am hoping that the money I earn each year during this time frame will continue to be factored into my later benefits.
But can't find an answer to this in your latest book.
Hi,
Yes, as long as you continue to work and pay into Social Security, your earnings can potentially increase your benefit amount. Your benefit is calculated based on your best 35 years of inflation adjusted earnings, and can be recalculated at any time you have a new earnings year that is higher than one of the previous high 35.
The Social Security Administration automatically recomputes benefits when appropriate, but you can request a manual recomputation by submitting a copy of your most recent W-2 form(s) and/or Schedule SE from your tax return.
