Can you recieve social security at 55 years old
Hi,
Yes, but the only way you could qualify for benefits based on your own work record at age 55 is if you're disabled according to Social Security's standards. It would also be possible to qualify for survivor benefits at age 55 if you were married to someone who is now deceased and you're either disabled or caring for a child of the deceased who is either under age 16 or disabled. Or, you could potentially qualify for spousal benefits at age 55 on the record of your spouse who is drawing Social Security retirement or disability benefits if you have an eligible child in your care who is either disabled or under age 16.
There are numerous different categories of Social Security benefits, and each type has it's own set of requirements for entitlement. Our software is designed to determine the type(s) of Social Security benefits for which you may qualify (if any), and also help you determine the best strategy for claiming your benefits.
