Can I Get A Benefit Increase Now That My Deceased Husband's Other Wives Have Died?

My deceased husband was married three(3) times. After his death, the two other wives and myself received widow benefits. Since then, the other two wives have died. I can I get an increase to my SS since their money is not being paid?

Hi,

No. Benefits paid to divorced spouses do not count against the family maximum benefit amount that can be paid from a worker's Social Security record. Therefore, since the benefits payable to your husband's other wives wouldn't have caused you to receive a lower benefit rate while the they were living, their deaths would not cause your benefit rate to increase.

Best, Jerry
