If I Marry The Man I've Been Dating Would We Still Be Able To Claim Divorced Spousal And Survivor Benefits On Our Previous Spouses' Records?

I’m almost 60 and dating a 63 year old man. We’re both divorced and were each married to other people for 20+ years. We would like to access divorced spousal benefits and would we also be able to claim widow(er) benefits if we got married now? And when and how should we access the divorced spousal benefits?

Hi. You can't qualify for divorced spousal benefits on a living ex-spouse's account if you've remarried, regardless of at what age you remarry. However, since you're both at least age 60, you could still qualify for survivor benefits on the account of a deceased ex-spouse even if you remarry now.
