Does The Benefit Rate Reduction For Disabled Widows Go Away At FRA?

Get What's Yours Chapter 12 Advantage 5, says that the reduction in benefits for disabled widows goes away at FRA.
Yet every person I contacted at SSA and other SS advisors/experts seem to think that one reduced, the reduction stays in place.
Assume a person is under 60 and receiving DIB and their disability is expected to continue until after FRA
Assume that their DIB/PIA is much smaller than their potential WIB/DWB benefit
If a person initally on DIB subsequently files for DWB prior to age 60, does the reduction in DWB go away at their FRA?

Hi. I'm sorry for your loss. Since you're planning to apply for disabled widow's benefits (DWB) I assume you are between 50 and 60 years old (https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.05/handbook-0513.html).

Can I Get Disability Now Based On My Late Husband's Record?

My husband passed away October 2022. We have been married since 1986 n had 2 children, one passed away at age 23 (2017). We were legally separated in 1999. However we shared the same residence from 1986-1999 & again from 2005 -2017. He was in an assisted living home when he passed. I was the authorized person in charge of his care all of the way up to removing life support. However, I did ask the funeral home could we make payments to get his ashes n they said we could. When we went to make a payment they stated that they had gotten the state to pay for them, they thought.

Will The Benefit Amount I Receive From My Deceased Husband's Record Be Recalculated When I Reach Full Retirement Age?

If I started receiving ssd benefits in 06 , my husband passed away in 09 neither one of us was fra so I began receiving a percentage of what my husband would have gotten . Now that I have turned full retirement age , I know mine will remain the same , will my husband’s portion be recalculated, to 100 percent of the years he put in ? Or does everything remain the same , other than they are calling it retirement.

Is It Legal For Social Security To Deny Me Survivor Benefits?

I have been on SSDI FOR 23 years and just turned 50 in November of 2021. My husband was also on SSDI but passed away in May if 2920. I had to go through the disability process all inner again and was just denied survivor benefits under my husband's name. Is this legal? I understand how I can be disabled under my name and not denied under my deceased husband's.

Is It True That I'd Have To Be Re-evaluated for SSDI If I Apply For Widow's Benefits?

Hi. I am currently on Social Security Disability for the past 4 years. I’m 59 yeats old. My Spouse just died this October. I called Social Security and then had to be called back weeks later. I asked the girl since I’m on Social Security Disability already can I apply for Widower Benefits. She said I would have to be reevaluated again for SSDI. She said why don’t you just wait until you turn 60 then you can get it automatically. Is this true?
