Hi. The 30% tax withholding on Social Security benefits only applies to non-U.S citizens who are living outside of the U.S. The tax does not apply to citizens of the U.S., American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, or Puerto Rico.

I did not tell SS I won money at the casino and they sent me a letter saying if I did not respond right away I will lose SS and they wanted my tax papers cause I did not file with the IRS I tried calling and asking the casino for the paperwork but they said I had to come there I have no car and it would cost almost 300.00 by cab which I do not have I only get 800.00 and something from SS can they I also wrote them and told them what I just wrote but I was homeless for a year and all my belongings got sold off and my files were there.

Hi. The only other way to find out why your benefits have been suspended is to call Social Security at 800-772-1213 for an explanation. They are the only people who have access to your records.

I just noticed that Social Security suspended my monthly benefits since December 2020. I started to collect a small benefit at age 62 (dob 11.11.1948). I was not notified of this change, nor did I initiate it. What's going on?

I changed my bank from a USAA bank to a Thailand bank. That changes already reflected on my SSA page. However, the dates of past payments have all changed to about the third of the month. It says that for this month February 2022 my deposit went in on 3 February. I did not receive a check on 3 February. I am scheduled to receive it on the fourth Wednesday. It also says that my next payment is going to be March 3. Am I going to miss a payment? Thank you.

I've got a friend who is divorced. She was married for more than 10 years and has been divorced more than 2 years. Her ex is older than 62. She's approaching her FRA and doesn't know if she should apply for her SS benefits because she's not sure if her spousal benefit will be more than her amount if she waits until 70 to claim. If her spousal benefit is more than her age 70 amount it makes sense to claim at FRA. Is there any way she can find out what her spousal amount would be without applying?
