Spousal Benefits

Am I Eligible For Spousal Benefits Between When My Wife Starts Drawing And When My Own Benefits Start?

My wife filed an application for Social Security in February to take effect when she turns 70 in May. Her application is in pending status. I will be 70 in July and am ready to file an application. Am I eligible for spouse's benefits from May, when my wife's benefits begin and July when my own benefits will start. If so, will my Social Security benefit automatically switch from spouse's benefit to my own when I reach 70?

If I Reapply For Spousal Benefits WIll I Lose The Retroactive Benefits I've Been Paid?

SS has denied my spousal benefits. I am 68, married 39 years to the same man. They informed me on the site I could re-apply. They have sent two letters with conflicting info regarding my benefit, the second less than the first. They have deposited a retro benefit which I fought for through phone calls to the national ss office, after being turned down for the retro at the local office. I am so weary of being jerked around by these people, I think that is their strategy. If I do as they say and I re-apply, will I lose the retro benes? I originally applied early December 2019.

Is My Wife Eligible To File For Spousal Benefits?

Hi Larry. I am 66 years old and started drawing a reduced Social Security benefit when I turned 62. I currently receive $1,773 per month from Social Security. My wife of 26 years will turn 62 this year and would like to file for spousal benefits on my record. We live in Utah. My wife receives a benefit of $808 per month from the Nevada Public Employees Retirement System. Would she be eligible to file for Social Security spousal benefits and if so would they be substantially reduced because of her public benefit from the State of Nevada? Thank you.

Can I Apply For A Portion Of My Husband's Disability Funds?

I currently receive SS in the amount of $922 and I have to pay rent in the amount of $832.00
My husband left me and somehow he got disability in the amount of $1200 and he is not disabled. He moved his girlfriend in an apartment with him and he pays all the bills. She works and files him on her income tax. Can I apply for a portion of his disability funds. They have my name on his SS paperwork. I just wonder how she and her sister use his name on her taxes. What can I do? Can I report her to IRS and social security

Can My Wife Draw Her Own Benefits In Addition To Child In Care Benefits On My Social Security Account?

Hi Larry. You recently provided an answer to a question about benefits for my wife and disabled adult son. Just need clarification on one point....if my wife (less than age 62) is receiving child in custody benefits on MY SS filing, will she be able to continue receiving THIS benefit IN ADDITION TO her own SS retirement benefit when she claims or is it one benefit or the other (depending on which one is higher) but not both? Thanks for your assistance!

Will My Spousal Benefits Be Reduced Because I'm Still Working?

I am planning to have my wife (7/15/50, not working) apply for SS benefits to begin after her next birthday. I (11/14/52) am planning to file a restricted application for spousal benefits to begin at the same time and continue working with the intent to wait until I turn 70 to apply for benefits on my own work record. Q1: Will my spousal benefits be reduced because I am still working? Q2: My wife is covered by medical coverage through work. Will she be automatically enrolled in Medicare regardless of my coverage?
