Which Month Should I Choose To Start My Benefits?

I know you probably have answered this question a million times. My birthdate is September 7., 1952. On Social security application it asks for benefit start date. Should it be October or November? Thanks.

Hi. I assume you want to start your benefits effective at age 70, in which case you want to choose September 2022. Your first payment will then be due in October. Your benefit rate won't be any higher if you choose October or November instead of September, so you would just be losing a month or two of benefits if you did that.

Best, Jerry

Should I Start Drawing My Benefits Before Age 70 If I'd Already Be Eligible For The Maximum Amount?

I am waiting until I am 70, in 2 years, to claim my Social Security benefit to maximized it. My SSA statement says that my benefit at 70 would be $4025. I read that the maximum benefit for 2022 is $3895. Assuming that my projected benefit at 70 exceeds that maximum Social Security benefit, should I take my benefit before 70, (at around the point where I figure my benefit would equal the maximum amount)? It seems like waiting beyond that would not result in a higher payout.

What Happens When Calculating My Retirement?

Good afternoon,
I am a teacher for Miami-Dade County Public schools. I am in a pension program where I contribute 3% and my county employer contributes 3%. I was inquiring about my future Social Security retirement amount. I was reading about the Windfall Elimination Provision and wondered how that will impact my retirement. According to the school district's website, 6.2% of my salary is taxed for Social Security. So when calculating my retirement, what happens? On MySSA, it says that I will receive approximately $2,805. I appreciate your help!

Am I Not Entitled To Benefits Based On P.L. 108-203?

I am 70 and have applied for my social security benefits which was approved but withheld because I am not legally present in the US. I entered US with a J1 visa in 2005, obtained a SSN, worked for one year, following year obtained a waiver of Section 212(e). The rest is history, and I am still working.
Am I NOT entitled to my benefits according to the provisions of the Social Security Act of 2004 (P.L. 108-203)?

Which Is Correct?

The Social Security "Apply for Retirement Benefits" page says if you turn (birth date of age you wish to start retirement benefits) if any day after the 2nd day of the month you are not that age for the entire month. You can start your benefits as of the following month. Your answer to a previous question says you can start your benefits in the month you turn the age you wish to initiate retirement benefits. Which is correct?

Is There A Maximum Social Security Benefit Amount An Individual Can Receive?

Is there a maximum social security benefit amount an individual can receive? I thought I read that in 2020, the maximum social security was $3,145. Is that correct? I was concerned if that is the case because will be collecting my DCR in October 2022, and was given my estimated at $2,882 per month, that didn't include my 2021 earnings and Cola.
