Hi,

You can't voluntarily suspend your benefits until you reach full retirement age (FRA). Your benefits could be involuntarily suspended for part or all of a year if you work and earn too much (https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/retirement/planner/whileworking.html), but if your earnings are low enough to allow you to be paid at least some of your benefits then those benefits will still be paid to you. The only way that you could voluntarily stop receiving benefits prior to FRA is if you withdraw your application, but you could only do that if withdraw within 12 months of your original month of entitlement to benefits (https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/retirement/planner/withdrawal.html).

If you started drawing benefits more than a year ago, about all you can do is inform Social Security that you're working and how much you'll be earning. The best way to do that currently is by calling them. They should then suspend your benefits as needed if your earnings are high enough to require that.

Best, Jerry
