Will I Be Able To Collect SS From My Husband's Earnings When I Reach Age 62?

I am 12 years younger than my husband and I’m 60 years old at this moment. My question is will I be able to collect SS from his earnings when I reach 62?

Hi. Possibly. Assuming that your husband is living you could potentially qualify for spousal benefits as early as age 62. But, you can only qualify for spousal benefits if a) your husband is collecting Social Security retirement or disability benefits, and b) his primary insurance amount (PIA) is more than twice as much as your own PIA. A person's PIA is equal to their Social Security retirement benefit rate if they start drawing their benefits at full retirement age (FRA).

If you start drawing benefits prior to your full retirement age (FRA) of 67, though, your benefit rate will be reduced for age.
