My FRA is 66 and 4 months but I would like to apply for benefits at 62. I have a 28 year old permanently disabled daughter who is on SSDI and has been disable since birth. Will her new benefit amount be based on my reduced payment or based on my FRA amount?
Hi,
If your daughter qualifies for disabled adult child's (DAC) benefits on your record, her benefit rate would be derived from your full retirement age rate (PIA) even if you choose to take reduced benefits. The most that she could be paid while you are living is the higher of her own SSDI rate or 50% of your PIA. In the event of your death, her maximum possible DAC rate would go up to 75% of your PIA.
