Do I Need To Do Anything Regarding Medicare?
I will be turning 65 this August and I work full time and I am covered by my wifes medical insurance. Do I have to do anything as far as Medicare if I will continue to work full time and will be covered by wifes medical insurance going forward? Thank you.
Hi. You don't need to do anything as long as a) your wife is actively working, b) your covered by her employer group health plan (EGHP), and c) there are at least 20 employees covered under the EGHP. You could sign up for Part A of Medicare since it's premium free, but it's not required as long as you're . . . Read More

Does My Wife Have To Wait Until I Actually Begin Collecting SS To Draw Spousal Benefits?
Hi Larry,
I am 53 and work full time. My plan is to begin collecting SS at my full retirement age of 67 (though I would like to retire sooner). My wife is 62, does not work due to disability and collects SSDI. At my current earnings rate, my SS benefit would be about $3153/mo. My wife's SSDI is currently about $1050/mo. In order for my wife to be able to collect spousal SS based on my earnings, do we have to wait till I actually begin collecting SS? Due to our age difference, that would put as at a disadvantage since she would be 76 before I plan to collect.

What Do I Do If I Need A Wheelchair Due To MS?
I need a wheelchair! I do not WAN ths but as my legs no longer co-operate with my wishes *Blankety-Blank* Blank MS!* it seems a neccecity!
Hi. I wish I could help you, but my expertise is limited to Social Security benefits. If you're drawing Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits or if you're at least age 65 then you probably have Medicare, and Medicare may be able to help out with the cost of a wheelchair if you have a doctor's prescription.

Will The Windfall Elimination Provision Affect My Wife's Social Security If I Receive A Public Pension?
I worked in law enforcement and have a public pension. My wife worked in a hospital and paid into social security. Does the Windfall Elimination Provision affect my wife’s social security ?
Hi. No. The only way that the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) could affect your wife's Social Security retirement benefits is if she receives a pension based on her own earnings that were exempt from Social Security taxes.

Will My Son Receive My Daughter's Portion Of My Deceased Husband's Benefit Now That She's Turned 18?
My husband passed away in 2005. My two children and his older son recieved a monthly check. When his older son reached 18.. His portion was split between my two children. My oldest daughter just turned 18 on May 21st. Will my son recieve her portion? So far this month was just his normal amount.

How Can I Get Social Security To Stop Withholding Medicare Premiums?
The state of FL pays medicare premiums for low income Social Security recipiants. The state is presently paying my medicare. However social security is still removing the premium amount from my check. I cannot find anyone willing to fix the problem. They just tell me it will be fixed next payment.
Hi. Your Medicare premiums should automatically stop being withheld from your benefits when the state puts you on their list of people whose premiums they're paying. If that's not happening, it's probably some type of computer programming issue. The only thing I . . . Read More
