I’m 65. At age 62, I became permanently disabled and commenced collecting Social Security Disability and I have continued to receive a check monthly ever since. Is there anything I need to do now that I am reaching retirement age? Thank you for your time.
Hi,
No. Your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits will automatically convert to regular Social Security retirement benefits at the same benefit rate effective with the month you reach your full retirement age of 66. The only reason that you might need to contact Social Security is if you think you may qualify for a higher benefit rate on the record of a spouse or former spouse.
Best, Jerry
