How Can I Find Out How Much I'll Get From My Ex-Husband's SS And When I Can Start Collecting It?

How do I go about getting answers to my questions?
I believe I'm entitled to possibly 1/2 of my ex husbands SS retirement.
How can I find out how much that will be, and at what age can I draw off of it?

Hi. If your ex-spouse is living, in order to qualify for divorced spousal benefits you must a) be at least age 62, and b) your ex-spouse must be at least age 62 or collecting Social Security retirement or disability benefits, and c) you must be currently unmarried, and d) you must have been married to your ex-spouse for at least 10 years. Also, assuming that you were born after January 1 1954 you could only qualify for divorced spousal benefits if 50% of your ex-spouse's primary insurance amount (PIA) is more than twice as much as your own PIA (https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.03/handbook-0311.html). A person's PIA is equal to their Social Security retirement benefit rate if they start drawing their benefits at full retirement age (FRA).

Unreduced divorced spousal benefits can amount to up to 50% of the worker's PIA, but if you start drawing benefits prior to full retirement age (FRA) you benefit rate will be reduced for age. If you do qualify for divorced spousal benefits, then you should be able to find out how much you could be eligible for by calling Social Security.
