Hello
I am waiting for my disability hearing any suggestions or advice while I am waiting for my case to be assigned a judge.
Thanks
Hi,
I only know the basics about what's required to be considered disabled for Social Security purposes. The basic requirement is that you must have an impairment(s) that keeps you from doing substantial gainful work, and your impairment must be expected to last for at least a year or end in death. You may want to review the listing of impairments that Social Security has posted on their website for more specifics: https://www.ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/AdultListings.htm.
When you have your Hearing, you will meet with the Administrative Law Judge assigned to your case, and you will want to be prepared to submit evidence or testimony that convinces him or her that your impairment(s) meets the legal requirements to qualify for Social Security disability benefits. If you haven't already done so, you may want to consider hiring an attorney or non-attorney to represent you at the Hearing (https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10075.pdf). I don't really have any advice for you in how to find a qualified representative, but you could try your local yellow pages or do an internet search.
The Hearing process can be quite lengthy, so my only other advice for you would be that you'll need to try to be patient.
Best, Jerry
