Can I Get Benefits On My First Husband's Record If I'm Remarried?

I divorced my first husband after 24 years, I have remsried, can I receive any social security benefits from my first husband if I am presently married to someone else

Hi,

No, not if your first husband is still living (https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.03/handbook-0311.html). But, If your first husband is deceased, you could potentially qualify for survivor benefits on his record if you either a) remarried after age 60, or b) if your present marriage ends in death or divorce. In that event, though, you would also need to meet the other requirements for entitlement: https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.04/handbook-0403.html.

Best, Jerry
