I have been on SSDI for 16 years. I'm now 60. I was able to work on and off part time on the tkt to work program for two yrs but again I am unable. Will those two yrs be included when they change me over to SS from SSDI and will they do this at 62, 65 or 67?
Thank you
Hi. Your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits will automatically convert to regular Social Security benefits when you reach your full retirement age (FRA) of 67. Social Security will automatically recalculate your benefit rate at that time to consider your additional years of earnings, but those years could only increase your benefit rate if your earnings in those years were higher than one of your highest years of earnings on which your initial SSDI rate was based. In almost all cases, there is no change in a person's benefit rate when their SSDI benefits are converted to retirement benefits at FRA.
