Disabled Adult Child Benefits

Are There Any Limits That Could Adversely Affect My Son Later In Life?

I just started receiving social security benefits and I have a child with disabilities (now 13) (life-long disabilities) I read an article that briefly talked about "disabled child benefit" - If he qualifies at age thirteen are there limits that could affect him later in life? Are there downsides to taking this benefit? Thank you.

Will My Son Need To Fill Out A New Application When His Father Retires?

My son received a favorable CDR in May 2021. He’s 25 and was awarded when he was 18. His dad is retiring in August. Will he have to fill out a new application? If so will they resend for all his medical records and wait for 9-12 months for a decision. Will he need to be medically awarded again or can he just fe switched to SSDi?

Will My Son's Eligibility For Benefits On My Record Affect His Massachusetts Health Status?

Hello, I am past my FRA of 66 .2 on 10/25/21 (born 8/25/1955). My son is 30 years old and has Down Syndrome and lives with my Ex-wife. He does not work or have any income other than his SS or SSI check, I am not sure what he receives. I am going to apply for SS retirement benefits. My son has Medicare part A and B, Humana and Mass health.(Massachusetts Health} Since he may be is eligible for benefits on my earning record will that affect his Mass Health status? Should I add my son to Section 17 of the SS application?.

How Will My Wife's And Disabled Child's Benefits Be Calculated When I Apply For My Benefits?

I plan to take my SS at age 62 for the following reasons: my wife is two years younger than me and is permanently disable and is collecting SSDI. We also have an adult son who was permanently disable before age 22 and is collecting SSI and some of his benefits off my wives SS record. My question is when I retire how will they calculate my wife and sons checks off my record. I assume my wife is eligible because she is disabled, and she is taking care of an adult disabled child who was disabled before he turned 22.

Is It Correct That My Son Has To Start Over And Reapply In Order To Get Half Of My My Wife's Benefit Rate?

My wife receives SS as she is over 62 and retired. Our 31 year old son was declared disabled before turning 22 and receives SSI. I was told (by a friend) that to get half of his mothers SS that we would have to start over and re-apply. Is that correct and if not how do we go about getting half her benfits for him.
Thank you any help that you can provide
Andy

Could I Be Eligible To Receive Benefits Off Of My Deceased Mother's Record?

I get adult SSI but I got diagnosed when I was a child. I have medical records dating back40 years or more, was hospitalized numerous times as a child, but didn't get benefits until my early 20s because my mother didn't know to apply. She's passed on now, and I was wondering if I could possibly be eligible to receive benefits off her records and if it's even worth finding out and filing for. Thank you and have a good one.

Will My Daughter Automatically Start Getting CDB Benefits If Her Father Listed Her On His Application?

I have a 32 year old adult disabled daughter (who was deemed disabled before age 22) on both SSI and SSDI based on her own work record. She earned 6 credits before age 24 which qualified her to collect SSDI on her own work record in addition to collecting SSI. During the time she worked she never reached SGA (Substantial Gainful Activity). Her father just filed for retirement benefits and as a result our daughter will be entitled to Childhood Disability Benefits (CDB) off of his work record.

What Amount If Any Of My Sister-In-Law's Residential Fees Might Count As Impairment Related Expenses?

My 56 YO sister-in-law is developmentally disabled and is a resident of a community specifically for the Intellectually Disabled. She is currently receiving DAC benefits. She pays a monthly "residential" fee of approximately $3700 per month. Recently with the help of her counselors, a job coach and their providing her transportation to and from work, she got a job working off campus and is quite excited. It is my understanding that if she were to exceed the SGA earnings, that she could lose her DAC benefits. If so, she will be unable to reside there any longer.

Will Social Security Require Us To File Form SSA-3368 When Our Daughter Files For Disabled Adult Child's Benefits?

I have a 31year old adult disabled daughter receiving both SSI an SSDI (on her own work record). Her father will be filing for Social Security Retirement Benefits soon. When her father files for SS Retirement Benefits we can also file an application for (Child's Insurance Benefits) based on his work record. As a result she is entitled to benefits on more then one earnings record (her own and her fathers). I also know she would not collect the maximum amount on both earnings records. She would collect the higher of the two and she would also not collect SSI anymore.
