Am I Eligible To Draw A Spousal Benefit When My Husband Files?

Larry, I was born in 8/1955 and my husband was born in 7/1955. My husband retired in April 2009 and is receiving a retirement benefit since that time. I have continued working all these years and want to retire in 2020. Neither have started taking SS benefits. Am I eligible to draw a spousal benefit from my husband once he takes his next year?

Also, should I retire at the 1st of the year or wait until August 2020?

Thanks.

When I Turn 62 Can I Receive Divorced Spousal Benefits And Then Collect My Own Benefits At Age 70?

I am 55 years old and divorced and have not remarried. I was married for to my ex-wife for 12 years. She is 5 years older than me. I make significantly more than her and have maximized my Social Security amounts. When I turn 62 is it possible for me to file and receive spousal benefits and then collect under my own when I turn 70?

Can My Husband File For His Benefits Now And Then Switch To A Spousal Benefit When I File?

Dear Larry,
My husband, DOB 10/23/53 is eligible for FR this month. But he also is under the GPO because he worked for the government for 40 years. My DOB is 6/17/57 and I will wait until my FRA at 66.5 to file. Can he file now and get his small amount and then switch to spousal benefit when I file? I know he might be eligible for a restricted application due to his age, but I don't understand if it would apply to our situation.

Can I File For Spousal Benefits At Age 62 And Then Switch To My Own Benefit At FRA?

Hi Larry, My husband is 7 years older than me and makes more income than I do. If he retires at 67 (FRA), can I take the spousal benefit on his work record at 62, so I can spend time with him but also continue to work part-time to increase my own work record benefits until I reach 67? Currently I work full-time. Then I am wondering can I fully retire 67 and switch to my own FRA benefit amount which would be more per month than the spouse benefit I would be receiving? And then can I change the benefit one more time?

Which Month Should I Choose To Start My Benefits In Order To Get The Maximum Retroactivity?

Confusion about spousal benefits -- My husband is getting his retirement benefit. I reached FRA (66) on June 16 and still qualify for a restricted application for spousal benefit only. I am filing this week in Sept. I want to get the maximum retroactive benefit without having time applied prior to my birthday in order to insure that I get the maximum spousal benefit (1/2 of my husband's benefit). I will take my retirement benefit at 70.
