How Should I Report A Problem In SSA's Online Application Process?
I recently discovered what seems to be a systemic problem with the SSA online application for spousal benefits and would like to bring this to the attention of an appropriate person at SSA. My wife applied online but was awarded retirement rather than spousal benefits. We have now been told by three different SSA workers that this is a common problem with online spousal benefit applications. All three also said that my wife must file a withdrawal of application form, wait for SSA to approve the withdrawal, and then apply in person for spousal benefits.
