Can You Clear Up For Me Why My Projected Benefits Never Go Up With COLAs?

I have a follow-up to a previous question. Someone just asked if the COLA will apply to those who are not receiving benefits yet. I am 61. For the last few years I have been logging into the my social security web site and checking my projected benefits at 62, 65, 67 and 70.

The projected benefits seem to stay the same, they never go up with the COLAs. I believe the projections only update annually, but I have been checking for over a year. Can you clear this up for me?

Thanks

Is It True That's There's No Limit On How Much Each Member Of A Couple Can Be Paid Based On Their Own Earnings History?

I am getting conflicting answers.

Is there a limit on Social Security benefits for married couples if both spouses worked outside the home and earned income and each has a Social Security account?
I am told that not when it comes to each spouse’s own benefit. Both can receive retirement payments based on their respective earnings records and the age when they claimed benefits. One payment does not offset or affect the other

Is this true?.

Can Someone Who Gets Ordained Online Legally Marry A Couple In Texas?

If someone is on full time disability and gets ordained online to marry a couple in Texas are they legally married? Also if the marriage is never consummated is it legal in Texas? Same marriage.

Hi. I'm not familiar with Texas's state laws, so I can't answer your question. My expertise is limited to Social Security benefits.

What Is The FRA For People Born In 1957?

Re: FRA for those born in 1957.
FRA is 66 + 6 months.
FRA for 1955 was 66 + 2 months.

Hi. The full retirement age (FRA) for Social Security retirement benefits for people born in 1957 is 66 & 6 months, but the FRA for widow(er) benefits for people born in 1957 is 66 & 2 months. Refer to the following section of Social Security's handbook: https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/cfr20/404/404-0409.htm.

What Should I Do Next?

I got married so I don't qualify for my survivor benefits anymore I called the social security office and asked them to cancel my benefits and they said they did but I'm still receiving money. Do I just need to call them again or pay them back or what ?

Hi. Assuming that your benefits should be stopped, then yes you should follow up with Social Security. I wouldn't send any money back to them until they request it, though, because it may then not be properly credited to you.

How Do I Find Out My Ex-Husband's PIA?

How to find out my ex-husband's PIA? Hi, Larry, I was married to my ex-husband for more than 10 years and we have been divorced for 7 years now. I have just turned 62 and have not remarried. I am still working and am going to try to wait until 70 to apply for my social security benefits, but want to plan in advance for various scenarios, and knowing my ex-husband's PIA would be useful as he earned more than me. My ex-husband was born in 1944 and in his late 50's went on disability (SSDI). At some point this changed to SSI automatically. I am wondering how to find out his PIA.

How Do I Find Out If My Husband Has Filed For Benefits?

I am disabled but still married even though we don't live together. How to find out if he has filed? And want to find out how much I would get please. And thank you

Hi. Due to the Privacy Act, Social Security would need your husband's authorization to be able to release information about his Social Security status to you. However, Social Security should be able to tell you whether or not you are potentially eligible for spousal benefits, and if so, approximately how much your benefit rate would be.
