Is My Sister Eligible To Receive Child In Care Benefits?

I am asking for my sister. She is 66 years old, married, her husband is 67, retired and starting taking SS benefits at 62. They have a 32 year old daughter who is disabled with diabetes living at home with them. The daughter is receiving SS disability benefits. My sister works full time at a daycare. Is my sister eligible to receive child-in-care spousal benefits? If so, would receiving them reduce her retirement benefits? Would her work income reduce the child-in-care benefits?
Thank you.

Is There Any Way To Receive Social Security Benefits From My Husband's Social Security Before I Reach Age 62?

I am 50 & have been on SSI since 1996. Married 25 years and separated for the last two. I am wondering if there is any way to receive benefits from his Social Security before I turn 62? SSI is designed to keep you poor and multiple times I've been charged overpayments I didn't/don't owe. I'm going through it again currently. MY husband is 55 and working still.

If I File At Age 62 Will My Spouse Qualify For An Additional Spousal Benefit?

Hi Larry: If I file early at 62 will my spouse qualify for an additional spousal benefit? Her current benefit (based upon the WEP) is less than 50% of my projected benefit.

Hi. Your wife could only qualify for spousal benefits in addition to her own benefits if your primary insurance amount (PIA) is more than twice as much as her PIA. A person's PIA is equal to their Social Security retirement benefit rate if they start drawing their benefits at full retirement age (FRA).

Am I Understanding The Spousal Benefit Correctly?

Hi - am I understanding the spousal benefit correctly? There's so much conflicting information.

My husband and I are both 67, and reached full retirement age in 2020. He is the higher earner, and will delay filing for Social Security until age 70. Based on the 2020 FRA maximum, I'm eligible for a spousal benefit of $1505.50. This will breakdown into my own PI of $1000, plus a spousal top up of $505.50.

Do I Qualify For Any Benefits?

Hi Larry, My husband is getting his SSDI. He got hurt and is 100% disabled. I will be 50 in August 2021, he will be 49 in July. Are there any benifets or income that I qualify for. We have been married 25 years this past December.

Hi. The only way that you could be eligible for benefits on your husband's Social Security record now is if you have a child in your care who's under age 16 or disabled and who qualifies for child benefits. Otherwise, you would need to be at least age 62 to be able to qualify for spousal benefits.

Best, Jerry

Is There Any Way For My Wife To Get A Back Payment For What Social Security Should Have Paid Her?

I am age 85. I have been receiving about $30,000 per year in social security for the past 20 years. My wife is age 81. She has been receiving about $7000 per year in social security for the past 16 years. I understand that she should have been receiving 50% of my annual payment based on the spouse's benefit. Is there any way that she can obtain a back payment for some or substantially all of what Social Security should have paid her? If so, what should she do?
