Survivor Benefits

Were My Mother's Children Entitled To SS Benefits?

My mother received SSI and considered disable due to her mental health. She died at age of 44 as a result of treatment of her illness. She had 9 children at the time of her death ranging in age 13 to 27. None of the children every received any benefits. My question is under what circumstances were they or were they not entitled to SS benefits?

Can My Mother Claim Survivor Benefits On My Father's Record?

Hi Larry,

My mother was born in 1954, she started to claimed the retirement earlier this year 2019, her benefit is about $1,100.00 a month, and she is not working. My father died in November 2018. I'd like to know if she can claim the survivor spousal benefit (my father benefits was about $900.00 while he was alive, he was born 1945).

Thank you in advance for your time.
Kim

Would My Earnings Prevent Me From Collecting Survivor Benefits?

My wife died and I have one child 10 years old. I understand that the child is entitled to receive 75% benefit of my wife FRA social security due to my wife death until the child turns 18 years old (or 19 if in child in high school). I also understand that I can receive father/mother benefit while I am caring for our child who is under 16 old. I am 45 years old and work and my income is roughly 100k per year. Would receiving this income prevent me from collecting the social security benefit for caring for the child under 16 years old?

Will My Benefits Continue After My Daughter Turns 18?

Hi,
My husband died in 2007, our daughter was only 10 months old; I was 33 years old. Since then my daughter and I have been receiving Social Security Benefits. From what I understand, she will stop receiving benefits when she turns 18. I have a few questions:
1. Will I continue to receive my portion of SS benefits after she turns 18?
2. Will her benefits get redistributed to me or do they simply stop?
Many Thanks for having this forum!

Will My Wife's Military Survivor Benefits Be Reduced By Her SS, Or Vice Versa?

I receive a military pension and participate in the SBP for my wife. I also receive Social Security payments and my wife does also off of my SS benefits. When I pass and my wife starts receiving annuitant pay through the SBP program, will her survivor benefits from SS be reduced or vice versa? I cannot find the answer any where on the web.
