What Is Title 15 And How Would Working Part Time Affect My SSDI?

What is title 15 job and how would working part time affect my SSDI of 1217mo.and also my ct.state ins. I am on QMB which pays my medicare andnalso food stamps. I have a lot of medical issues and cant afford to lose my ins. benefits.

Hi,

Title 15 of the Social Security Act deals with unemployment compensation for federal employees (https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/ssact/title15/1500.htm), so I don't see how that applies to your question.

If you receive Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits and you return to work, you are initially allowed a 9 month trial work period (TWP) in which you can earn any amount and still be paid your SSDI benefits. After your 9 month TWP is completed, you can generally continue to be paid SSDI benefits as long as your monthly earnings don't exceed the amount considered to be substantial gainful activity (SGA), which in 2019 is $1220. For more information about working while receiving SSDI, refer to the following Social Security publication: https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10095.pdf.

My expertise is limited to Social Security benefits, so I'm unable to tell you how working may affect any of the other benefits you receive.

Best, Jerry
