I am on disability and collect $1662.00 a month..I have been on this for 1 year, I turn 62 in March 2018. someone told me they take my disability away and I will collect social Security and will take money away from me. I will collect only what my Social Security is... is this true?
Hi,
No, nothing will change simply because you turn age 62. The only reasons for stopping your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits would be if Social Security determined that you had medically improved and are no longer disabled, or if you returned to work and earned too much to qualify for SSDI. Otherwise, your SSDI will automatically convert to regular retirement benefits at the same rate when you reach full retirement age.
Best, Jerry
