Did I Provide Some Incorrect Information When Using Your Software?

Just purchased your software. One question - I see on my report with both my wife and I doing the mazimized strategy is is showing I get RETIREMENT BENEFITS and my wife gets BOTH RETIREMENT *and* SPOUSAL BENEFITS. I didn't think that someone can receive both?? Is this true, or did I provide some wrong information somewhere along the line?? Thank you!

Can I File For Social Security Disability If I Don't Find Suitable Work?

I will be 64 this August. The last five years I have been working under FMLA in case I call in. This was required by my employer. I have activity restrictions now and I am required to find a desk job but I am not successful. Can I file disability social security if I don’t find a position? My doctor will not sign any disability paperwork from my employer.

Hi. Yes, you could certainly apply for Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits. I have no way of knowing if you'd qualify, though. You can't qualify for SSDI by getting your doctor to sign a statement . . . Read More

What Benefits Am I Entitled To?

Dear Larry,
My wife passed on February 14, 2021 and she was collecting Social Security Disability, I did receive her last Social Security deposit just last month June.
My question is what benefits am I entitled to?
She was 64 when she passed and I was 59 just turned 60 on 7/10.
I have called social security to find out but twice now when they tried calling me for my appointment they kept calling her old phone number which I have asked them to change to mine, and instead of just taking care of my situation they tell me I have to reschedule and it’s always . . . Read More

Are IRA Distributions Considered Income When Determining If My Social Security Benefits Are Taxable?

Hi. Are IRA distributions considered income for the determination of taxation of social security benefit? My only income is what I withdraw from my IRA.
Thanks for your help.

Hi. I'm not an expert on income taxes, but any income that counts as part of your adjusted gross income for taxes would count when determining how much if any of your Social Security benefits are taxable. Some types of non-taxable interest can also be counted. For more information, refer to Social Security's website: . . . Read More

Can I Switch From SSDI And DWB benefits To RIB And WIB Benefits?

Hi, I collect SSDI and DWB concurrently. Can I switch to RIB and WIB and collect both concurrently? Thanks

Hi. If you're between age 62 and full retirement age (FRA), you could switch to drawing Social Security retirement (RIB) benefits instead of Social Security disability (SSDI), but then your benefit rate would be reduced for age. SSDI benefits aren't reduced for age, and are calculated at 100% of your primary insurance amount (PIA). If you start drawing RIB prior to FRA, you'd be paid less than your PIA.

Will I Be Subject To The WEP Reduction?

I have not bought your software yet but am thinking I may have questions or need a consultation after I run the numbers. Do you offer consultation, what is the cost, and if I just have one or two questions to ask in this fashion, is there a cost?

My biggest question is about WEP. I worked at a hospital for 20 years and I paid into National Security, not Social Security. I don't get a pension from it, but I do have it in an IRA-type account. Will I be subject to the WEP reduction of SS payments and is there a way of getting around it, such as filing spousal support? . . . Read More

Will My Years Of Part Time Work While I Was Getting SSDI Be Included When They Change Me Over To SS?

I have been on SSDI for 16 years. I'm now 60. I was able to work on and off part time on the tkt to work program for two yrs but again I am unable. Will those two yrs be included when they change me over to SS from SSDI and will they do this at 62, 65 or 67?
Thank you

Hi. Your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits will automatically convert to regular Social Security benefits when you reach your full retirement age (FRA) of 67. Social Security will automatically recalculate your benefit rate at that time to consider your additional years of . . . Read More

How Do I Apply?

I am a widow and planning on taking my SS at 62 . I would like to take survivor benefit at full retirement age 6710 months. My husband was higher earner and started his at his full retirement age 66 (5 months before he passed) Still makes me cry . Not sure how to apply. I was told by SS they do not take restricted applications anymore. I am worried about losing Survivor Benefit at full retirement age. Also should I wait until Congress /Biden gets there act together. I heard they were going to make changes to Survivors Benefits .Thanks Mary
