Can My Wife Switch From SSI Disability To Spousal Benefits At Age 66?
my wife is on ssi disibility since age 60 can she change to spousal benefit at age 66 on my socal security earnings which wii be much higher.
Hi,
If your wife is receiving Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits then she could potentially get additional spousal benefits when you start drawing your benefits, but she could not switch from SSDI to spousal benefits. If she does qualify for spousal benefits, she could then choose to wait until her full retirement age to claim them so that her spousal rate wouldn't be reduced for age.

How Long Will It Take Social Security To Correct My Benefit Rate?
My ex-husband died five months ago and since we were married for 14 years I have been collecting on his Social Security retirement. It was incorrectly calculated because they thought I had not paid into Social Security because I worked for the State of California. The offset amount is $300 and although I have been told that this will be corrected, it has been sitting in the "payment center" for over three months. I was told it shouldn't take over 60 days for the correction to be made. How long can I expect this simple correction to take?

Hi,
The earliest that you could qualify for Social Security widow's benefits is age 60, unless you're disabled in which case you may be able to qualify for disabled widow's benefits as early as age 50 (https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.04/handbook-0401.html). However, if you start drawing widow's or disabled widow's benefits prior to your . . . Read More

Are Benefits Withheld Due To The Earnings Test Accumulated And Returned At FRA?
My mother is 62 years old and is considering whether to start my deceased father's Social Security (Mother FRA $25,008 and Father FRA $28,800 per year.) She would get about $23,256 from my father at age 62 and her benefit at age 70 would be about $36,059. If she is still earning income of approximately $55,000 that would reduce the benefit she receives from my father's Social Security to about $6,000 per year. Does this reduced income from my father's benefit accumulate and given to her back at age 66 or is it lost? Even if the reduced benefits are lost, it seems like it will . . . Read More

When I Retire WIll My Wife Be Able To Receive 50% Of My Benefits?
My wife is 66 and retired and collecting US social security. She has worked in the US for the last 12 years. She worked in Poland for at least 30 years before coming to USA in 2006 and receives Poland's social security benefits starting 6 years ago. We do not receive her pension here in the states, it all goes to a bank in Poland. Her US benefits have been reduced by WEP.
I will be retiring next year. I am a US citizen and have worked over 40 years. My question is that when I retire will my wife be able to receive 50% of my benefits. Thanks

Can I Get A Spousal Benefit If I'm Still Working And Separated From My Husband?
I will be 66 years old this October and I am still working and not ready to retire yet. I plan to keep working for the next 11/2 to 2 years and don't want to apply for Social Security until I am ready to retire. My husband is 68 years old and retired last year and is collecting Social Security. We have been married for 32 years but have been separated for the last 2 years now. Divorce is in the future but I don't want to pursue that yet until I figure out my rights for spousal benefits. Can I get a spousal benefit from him if I am still working and still married but separated . . . Read More

What Are My Options For Collecting Auxiliary Benefits Now?
I was born in 1956 and I am 64 now. I have been divorced after being married over 10 years and i am
unmarried. My ex spouse is 63 and has been on SSDI . What are my options for collecting auxilliary benefits now versus waiting until full retirement, and how does each choice effect benefits in the present and going forward.
What happens in either case to the auxillary benefit if I wait to collect at 70. What happens
to my auxillary benefit if she does the same when she turns 65?

Will My Benefits Still Be Recalculated And Possibly Increase If I Work At Age 72?
Will benefits still be recalculate and possibly increase as I am still working and am 72
Hi,
Yes, your Social Security retirement benefits can be recalculated to include higher earnings years regardless of your age at the time you have the earnings. In order for your benefit rate to increase, though, your earnings in a year would need to be higher than one of your previous 35 highest wage-indexed earnings years used to calculate your current benefit rate (https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10070.pdf . . . Will My Divorced Widow's Benefits Be Impacted By My Pension From The School System?
I am planning to take divorced widow's benefits at age 60 and then my own retirement benefit at age 70.
At age 65, I also have a miniscule pension from the school system I worked for briefly (paid into PERA and not into Social Security). I understand my own retirement benefit which I plan to take at 70 will be WEPed but by no more than 50% of my pension amount. I have less than 20 years of substantial earnings.
My deceased ex-spouse never worked for any employer that did not withhold social security tax. He had 28 years of substantial earnings.

Do I Have A Right To Continuity Of Benefits On My Father's Record?
greetings thank you for answering, but I am already requesting the benefit of adult child and social security sent me to fill some documents of work history made before 22 years of age ,,, and also sent me to fill a document on the record of work as an adult, these 2 documents establish whether I pass above or below the lucrative substance and establish the right to the benefit of blind legal impediment since I was a child before I turned 22, because they told me that I had to fill out another document that is equivalent to the right of continuity that I received as a child . . .
