I have been on Social Security disability since 2009. I tried to work a job in 2013 and it lasted about a month. It was only $400 a month and they hassled me so much! I was told I could make $810 a month that year. I didn't understand. Things are getting rough around here. I thought maybe I could try to start my own business. I Maybe to work slowly and alone but just can't be dependable to show up consistently for a part-time job because my physical and mental health.

Should I Work And Lose Benefits?

I am on disability, and will be turning 62 in january 2018. I was married first to a man 6 months younger than me but we were married 23 years and then divorced. He has since remarried twice and is currently still married. I have since been married 3 more times and an currently divorced. I am able to receive medicaid and food stamps and do have an option to work a part time job and not lose my disability check, but I will lose my medicaid. Should I work and lose benefits or keep my medicaid, and what happens when I turn 62 or 66, does disability change into retirement?

Will My Income Affect My Husband's Disability Benefits?

My husband is disabled and receives social security disability. I'm thinking of starting a business. We fill jointly. Will my income affect his SSD? I know our tax base will obviously change, but could he lose his disability?

Hi,

Your business income won't affect your husband's disability benefits provided that he receives Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits and not Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the latter of which is a needs based benefit administered by Social Security.

Can My Relative File For Disability And Receive An Increase In His Social Security Payment?

I'm asking for a relative who is computer illiterate. He was a minister and began drawing early social security benefits at 62. He has continued to work some on a part time basis to supplement his income. He is now 69 years old. He has become unable to work in the last year or so due to kidney failure (permanently on dialysis) and recently went blind in one eye.

Can I Work Without Losing My Disability Benefits?

I began collecting SSDI when I turned 40. I became a widow at age 49. When I turned 50 I started receiving $1656 on my SSDI benefits and $335 as a disabled widow. I was originally turned down for widow benefits said I did not qualify. I applied and fought for it and was approved and paid back benefits.
I will be 61 this year. Can I work a little without losing my benefits? Do I have to wait till I'm 66 to collect benefits on my husbands? He was only 53 when he passed. I have not remarried.
Will my benefits increase or decrease?

Will Social Security Stop My Benefits If I Sell Shares In A Company?

I'm receiving desability. I own shares in a company. I want to know if. i cash them will SS stop paying me The desability?

Hi,

Assuming that you are drawing Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits and not Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the answer is no. Sale of stock in a company is not considered as earned income, so it would have no effect on your entitlement to SSDI benefits.

Best, Jerry
