Can My Wife Draw Half Of My Social Security As A Spouse?

My wife, a public school teacher in Michigan (retired) was required to draw her SS at age 62 due to her school contract. When she was 66.7 yrs, I who was same age (one month difference in age) began to draw spousal benefits, even though I still worked. She continued to draw as I did. At 70 I retired and begin to draw SS. If she drew SS at half my rate it would be larger than her current draw from her account.
Can she draw 1/2 of my social security as a spouse, which would increase her draw.

Does A Divorced Spouse Who Remarries Have To Wait A Year To Be Able To Collect Spousal Benefits On Their New Spouse's Account?

If an individual has been divorced for over 10 years and re-marries after age 60. She has been receiving spousal benefits from her ex.
After she re-marries , does she have to wait a year before receiving spousal benefits from her new spouse? Her new spouse has been receiving SS benefits. Is there an exemption, or does she have to wait a year for new spousal benefits, or can she keep her old spousal benefits for a year after her new marriage?

Thanks.

Will My Friend's Spousal Benefit Be Reduced Because She Started Drawing Her Own Benefits At Age 65?

Two of my friends are planning to get married this year at age 68. She started collecting her own work SS benefits when she was 65 (before they met); he will be waiting until he is 70 to claim benefits, and she would like to start collecting spousal benefits then, which will be significantly higher than her own benefits. Question: When she claims spousal benefits at age 70, will she be deemed to have started collecting at age 65 (when she claimed her own benefits), rather than receiving the full spousal benefit based on her FRA?

Will I Get Both My Own Benefit And Spousal Support?

My husband was born in 1949. He filed for ssi at age 62. He was in military for 20 years (4 years service beginning in 1968 and 16 years in the reserves). We have been married for 15 years. I recently reached FRA at 66 and four months. I qualify for my own retirement under social security $1200. I was born in 1956. I understand when I file I will qualified for both ssi and spousal support payments. Here is the question, will I get both ssi $1200 and spousal support $1400 , Or will I get the greater of the two payments, $1400.($1200 plus $200).

Will I Lose Some Of My Social Security If I Get Married?

Hi I'm 68 my fiance is 67 if we go ahead and get married will I loose some of my social security to him he gets about half of what I get.

Hi. I assume you mean that you receive Social Security retirement benefits based on your own earnings history. In that case the answer is no, getting married wouldn't have any adverse effect on your benefits.
