I have been receiving ssdi for a mental health disability since 2018 I have also been receiving additional benefits for my minor son who is himself disabled with a diagnosis since age 13 and has continued treatment and diagnosis not to improve he himself is going to be 18 in 8 months how and when do I apply for him to receive the same max dollar amount under my record as an adult disabled child?
What happens to the DAC benefit if there is 1 year of income in excess of SGA limit? Does the DAC benefit go away forever or just for the year of income over SGA limit? We are looking to pay a disabled employee a retirement bonus when she turns 65 but don't want to jepordize the DAC benefit she receives on her father's earnings record.
Also wondering about making a gift to an ABLE acount for this employee. Are employer contributions to ABLE account counted as earnings toward the SGA limit? Thank you!
I have been disabled since I was 21. My father died years ago and just found out that I may be eligible for DAC benefits. Social security never informed me of this. I got a CDR in 2019 and they approved and never have brought up applying for a DAC. If I apply now will I get another CDR because of the DAC application. I read that it will but wanted to ask you too. Thanks
I am currently recieving sis/ssdi for a neurological condition/learning disabilities. Although my onset dated was listed by SSA as later after the age of 22. the last year I worked , was the year I was 22 since my birthday was in late December the previous year. The year I was 22 My earnings were 4,856 for the whole year. 2009. so no sustained SGA , at-least not over 6 months if at all. all of my work history before there were relativly short attempts not lasting more than 6 months before ended because of my disability.
1. If a 26 year old DAC's father passes away, is it required that he apply for the survivor benefit or is it authomatic since he is already receiving SSI. 2. If he does begin receiving survivor benefits, will he be eligible for Medicare right away or will it be a 2 year waiting period.
Was born with a kidney condition. Father was active duty my entire life. I am currently 35 and on SSI. I will qualify for DAC benefits due to being disabled before the age 22. Father is currently disabled through military. Do I qualify for DAC now? Also, do I qualify for any other benefits through social security or military. Thank you.
My daughter and I receive survivor benefits. When my daughter turned 16 in December 2020, I filed for disability for her, so that I could maintain my mother's insurance. She has significant intellectual issues. She was awarded disability in July of 2021, but I have not received an award letter. When I called to inquire about this last year, I was told she would be eligible for Medicare December of 2022.
Hello, I am collecting SSDI based on my own record, and I receive dependent benefits for my two children. Because I became disabled at 21 and did not have many work credits, the family maximum for my record is very low; about 1.3 times my primary amount. When my father retires at 70 next year will I be able to collect on his record and have my children collect on mine? Thank you!
Results will differ based on your specific case and filing strategy.
