Which Date Would Be My Onset Date For Social Security Disability Benefits?

Thank you for maintaining an excellent website. I am applying for Social Security Disability. My last day at work was October 31, 2019 and I left work because I became disabled. Prior to terminating my employment, I was on sick leave (because of the same disabling condition) starting October 20, 2019 until my final official day at work on October 31, 2019. When applying for Social Security Disability would my onset date be October 20, 2019 rather than November 1, 2019?

Can I Try To Get Back Pay For My Children?

I got SSI in 2005 or 06 (not exactly sure), I have 2 kids, they were ages 8 and 6. Social security told me I could not collect on my kids, which I believed, but I have at least 3 friends whom have SSI just as I do and have collected on their children (one of them was even collecting on his step daughter, no blood). Can I try to get back pay on them? They are grown now, but as their momma, I would live to be able to at least start some sort of college fund for them. Thank you Larry!

Will My Sister Lose Her Benefits If She Sells Her Home And Buys Another House?

My sister is on SSDI and AHCCCS if she sells her home and buys another house with me will she lose her benefits?

Hi,

I'm only able to answer questions about Social Security benefits. I have no idea what AHCCCS is, but selling and/or buying a home would have no impact on a person's Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits.

Best, Jerry

Do I Need To Report To Social Security If I'm On Social Security Disability And I Do Self-Employment Work From Home?

Hi Larry, I'm on social security disability and I was just wondering that if I do a work from home self employment , like on a website selling digital art that I make but I don't make any earnings, do I still need to report it to s.s or do I report it if I make a sale? Because its not a hourly or salary based its a purchase based I guess.
Thank you

Do I Continue To Receive SSDI Forever?

I have been receiving SSDI since 2005 , this year I turned 60, do i continue tlo receive SSDI forever yes i am still disabled or will itchange over to SSI and if it does does will my benefits increase or decrease? I can barely make it and am not able or allowed to work.
Also I have a student loan which interest is outrageous and I am worried about what will happen. Do you have any advice on getting it dissolved there is no way I am able to pay it and I don't have any money for an attorney.
Thank you so much.

Can I File For Social Security If I'm 58 And On Disability?

I am 58 on disability i was wondering can i file for social security

Hi,

I'm not sure I follow you. You can't qualify for Social Security retirement benefits prior to age 62, even if you're disabled. Also, if you're already collecting Social Security disability benefits (SSDI), you could never collect both SSDI and Social Security retirement benefits at the same time.
