Can A Person Collecting Disabled Adult Child's Benefits Have A Life Insurance Policy?

Can a Disabled Adult Child collecting SS have a life insurance policy in their name. And does SSA need to be notified?

Hi,

The answer to your first question is yes, and the answer to your second question is no. Social Security disabled adult child (DAC) benefits are not a needs based benefit, so it doesn't matter what type of assets a person receiving DAC benefits owns. Therefore, Social Security wouldn't need to know if a person drawing DAC benefits has a life insurance policy.

Can I Have My SSDI Benefits Changed Over To Early Retirement Benefits At Age 62?

Larry, I started receiving SSDI at age 59, I am now 62. Can I take early retirement and have my SSDI changed over to early retirement instead of waiting the full retirement age of 66+ years as the amount I now received will not changed when I reach the age of 66 and 2 months.

Can I Continue Receiving Social Security Disability Benefits Until Age 65?

I retired from USPS in 2014 at age of 56 via FERS. FERS paid an Annuity and a Supplemental Social Security benefit ($1137). I also got approved for Social Security Disability Benefits. How, upon turning 62 this year the Supplemental payment of $1137 will cease because that's when FERS considers the 1st year you qualify for Social Security Retirement Benefits. I also have a minor receiving Benefits under my SSDA.

Why Would My Wife's Benefits Drop So Much?

My wife just turned 62 in Sep. 2019. She has been receiving SSDI since 2003 for $1600 per month. Oct. that same year her benefits went from SSDI to SSI and her monthly Annuity went from $1600 to $1100. - Her full retirement age is 66.5 years. Why would her benefits drop so much? Any help would be welcome. Contacted OPM many of times, but all they say it's because she went on SSI.

Is There A Minimum Age At Which A Person Can Qualify For SSDI Benefits Based On Their Own Earnings?

My daughter is 19, 100% blind, Currently receives Supplemental Security Income. for Past two years she has managed a self employment income (All reported properly and filed with her taxes and shows in her SSA Web portal) around +/- $7,000 a year from various things, (Baby sitting, house care, secretarial type work, etc...). Most likely will not increase, at least for next few years while she is in college.
