If I FIle Now Can My Dependents Receive Benefits Even If I Can't Be Paid Due To My Earnings?
Larry, i can not get the answer to the question I'm asking from social security. I've tried 3 times and always get the stock answer. They are not reading the question. My question: I am currently 65. i still work, making about 70k a year. I also know at my full retirement age, my working income no longer matters reference my benefit. i realize if i claim now, i would receive nothing because of my income. But i do have 4 dependents under 18. If i file now, knowing I'd receive none of my benefits because of my income, would my dependents be able to start receiving their benefits . . . Read More

Does My Husband Qualify For A Stimulus Check?
My husband gets SSA on the 3rd of every month and I am his payee does he qualify for stimulus check?
Hi,
I'm sorry, but I can only answer questions about Social Security benefits, not stimulus payments. You may want to refer to the IRS's website for information about stimulus payments: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus-tax-relief-and-economic-impact-payments.

Can You Explain Why My Divorced Spousal Rate Went Down?
Hi I got divorced and for a certain amount of time received off of my ex's ss. After that time it went down. Once I turned 65, they said it would not go back up. Can someone explain? They cant!
Hi,
I have no way of knowing why your benefit rate would have gone down. Normally, a person's benefit rate wouldn't actually go down unless an overpayment is being withheld, or part of their benefits are being withheld because of the Social Security earnings test (https://www.ssa.gov/planners/ . . . Is It True That I'm Repaying My Overpayment At The Lowest Possible Rate?
Hello. I am paying a SS over payment of $265 per mo. I am 67 and working 2 jobs to pay this much. SS says that's the lowest payment they can do. True? Balance is now $8500.
Hi,
Normally, Social Security would withhold an overpaid person's entire benefit payment until the overpayment is recovered, but they are allowed to accept a lower withholding rate as long as the amount withheld results in full recovery of the overpayment within 3 years. The only way they'd withhold less is if you can show that you'd be unable to pay for your necessary living . . . Read More

Can A Person Draw Off Of Their Mother, Father Or Other Relatives?
Can a person draw off of their mother, father or any relatives social security?
I never got back pay and I d applied three times for disability!
Hi,
A child can potentially qualify for benefits on a parent's record if the parent is either deceased or drawing their own Social Security benefits, and the child unmarried and is either under age 18, 18 to 19 and still in high school, or disabled from an impairment that began prior to age 22.

Can I Collect Any Survivor Benefits In Addition To My Own Benefits?
I have been on disability for 5 years. My husband passed away several years years ago. I will be 66. Can I collect on any survivor benefits
Hi,
I'm sorry for your loss.
If a person applies for more than one type of Social Security benefit (e.g. disability & widows), they can only be paid the higher of the two benefit rates. Therefore, you could only qualify for widow's benefits in addition to your own Social Security benefits if your widow's rate would be higher than the benefit rate you're being paid on your own record.
