Is It Common For Social Security To WIthhold Back Pay?

I was awarded my social security ssdi and ssi Jan of 2020. I recieved my first payment for back pay (ssi) in March 2020 and I was contacted on Sep 2020 to check in on to see if I was capable of handling my money to release the remanding back pay (ssdi). They said the remaining back pay is 56,076 which seems right since I get only 1,164 a month and they retro approved to Jan 2015. I have yet to recieved the 56k and that has been almost a year ago now it was supposed to be released. I have contacted the SSA and they keep giving me a run around. Should I contact a lawyer?

Am I Entitled To An Increase Because I Worked After I Started Getting SSDI?

I have been on SSDI for a while. During that time, I did work. I am not able to work anymore. Am I entitled to an increase since I worked some of time while being on SSDI?

Hi. The answer to your question depends on how much you earned per year after starting your benefits, and how those earnings compare to your earnings in the years prior to when you started collecting benefits on which your initial benefit rate was based.

Will I Lose My Disability Benefits If I Rent My Home To Someone On Section 8?

I’m currently receiving Sadi and long term disability. Will I lose my disability benefits if I rent my home to someone on section 8?

Hi. I assume you meant to type SSDI, which is the abbreviation for Social Security disability benefits. Renting your home to someone wouldn't have any effect on your SSDI benefits regardless of who you rent to. Long term disability is private insurance, not Social Security, so I can't tell you whether or not those benefits might be affected.

What Will Change When I Turn 62 If I Receive Social Security Disability Benefits?

I like to know what my social security change right now I'm receiving social security disability and I will be 62 next year and I want to know is it going to change

Hi. Nothing will change when you turn 62. When you reach your full retirement age (FRA) of 67 your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits will automatically convert to regular Social Security retirement benefits, but your benefit rate won't change when that happens.

Can You Shed Any Light On How My LTD Insurance Was Handled?

HELLO Larry , I had been collecting SSDI benefits for 5 years .. Here is a complex question When I first became disabled , I had a long term disability policy thru my employer , that paid me roughly 60 percent of my salary about 4000 monthly thru a Prudential policy , However , once I was awarded SSDI about 2000 monthly the Prudential , pro rated their payment to 2000 , So I wasn't getting anything more than the 4000.0 And once I reached FRA the Prudential ceased their payment . SSDI was automatically changed to SS .

How Can My Friend Reduce Her Assets In Order To Qualify For Benefits?

My friend, age 57, has just been certified by the state as eligible for social security disability. I believe her total wealth is about $30,000. She has been advised she must divest some of that money because she has “too much” to receive assistance. She has been told she cannot just give it away. She has been unable to get an appointment with anyone to discuss this with.
What expenditures can she make that are legal use of some of her funds but still benefit her directly? For example, could she apply the cost of eye glasses? Can she prepay rent for a year?
