Will The Proceeds From The Sale Of My Home Affect My Benefits?

I have received SSDI for about 20 years. I just sold my home in Santa Clarita, CA (in escrow now) because I can no longer afford it. The proceeds are low about 100K. I don't want to lose my benefits and I don't have another place to buy in this range in nearly anywhere in the United States. I am told waiting and holding funds would be the best option but I am afraid if I don't reinvest the money right away it will qualify as earned income. What are my options?

Can I Get An Increase In My SSDI Payment?

I'm on ssdi and receive 1026 monthly. My rent is 900. Can 8 get an increase in my ssdi payment

Hi. Probably not. Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits are based on an average of a variable number of your highest earnings years. Basically, the older you were when you become disabled, the more years that would have been used to calculate your benefit rate.

How Can I Get My Son's Case Assigned To A Different Employee?

Hi. My son receives SSI for an intellectual disability. He is currently going through a review an we were contacted in May by an office 2 hours away in another state! We were asked to submit docs and told we'd receive a letter on where and how to send it. We never did. So a Google search indicated the fax number and the docs were sent in June. Yesterday I received a letter stating they were never sent- I have a fax receipt confusion that they were.

Is There Any Way That Getting Married Could Cause Social Security To Reduce My Monthly Check?

Hi I'am 53 years old on social security disability ,& Would like to marry my boyfriend of 5 yrs. My question is "" Is there any consequences if I marry him and will SSA reduce my monthly check. ??

Hi. No, as long as what you're receiving are Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits. A person's SSDI benefit rate is the same regardless of whether or not they're married.

Can I Get A Higher Disability Benefit From My Ex-Spouse's SS?

Im on ssd now and wonder if i could claim more ssd off my exhusbands(married 23yrs) ss now or do i have to wait for him to retire.

Hi. No. There is no such thing as a disabled spousal or disabled divorced spousal benefit. The only way that you could possibly qualify for a disability benefit based on your ex-husband's account is if he's deceased and if you are at least age 50.
