I am 65 and have been on SSDI for 15 years. I've read your column that at 66 SSDI will automatically convert to regular SS. At 66 will I be allowed to find work, without monetary restrictions (Apx. $2000 month possible income) and without losing my current SSDI amount. How would that work?

Probably not. Unless your Social Security disability rate is being reduced due to the receipt of Workers Compensation or a Public Disability benefit, there is likely no reason that your benefit rate could be increased simply because you're turning age 62.

Can I be an invester in real property, while applying for S.S. disability?

Yes, as long as your not in the real estate business where you'd be required to report any profits as self-employment earnings. Unearned income (e.g. dividends, interest, capital gains, rental income, pensions, etc.) would not preclude you from potentially qualifying for Social Security disability benefits (SSDI). Nor would ownership of a home, land or bank accounts.

At full retirement age you stated disability benefits are classified as 'regular retirement'. If this is true, is a person still deemed 'disabled' and can they go back to work in limited amounts or earn additional income that would otherwise be penalized under the SSDI criteria?

I have been receiving ssdi for about 10 I had to leave work because of a back injury/ That limit my ability to work or do any heaving lifting. I was offered a job taking people to doctor appointments which is only 3 or 4 hour a day. Will it affect my disability if I tried to do this job?

I currently receive SSDI (from my Dad's working record when he became disabled in 1993) and SSI benefits. My SSDI benefits is an adult child benefits because I was diagnosed with Autism when I was five years old. (Reference Number is C3) My SSDI amount is currently $516 a month and my SSI amount is $236 a month. I also receive Medicare, Medicaid, Section 8 housing, and SNAP benefits. I also have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depression, and Impulse Control Disorder. The only work I ever done was at a sheltered workshop but I quit going to that sheltered workshop.

Have a hearing in May for SS disability, have herniated discs, stenosis . Own a business , was dragging myself to work to remain open, but over last few mo this , I’m only going in to close at night, about 10hours weekly. Will this be good enough for approval ofjudge? And not making any money there , so no salary, income.
