How Can I Find Out The Status Of My Claim?

I submitted my application back in September of 2016. I have been for a CE and I have been for another test. I looked on my status and it says get reentry number, unsubmitted I don't understand that can you help me out

Hi,

I would suggest contacting the Social Security office where your filed your application to check the status of your claim (https://www.ssa.gov/disabilityssi/).

Can My Granddaughter Have A Bank Account If She's Receiving Disability Benefits?

my granddaughter 21 yrs old is on disability Can she have a savings acct or checking acct?

Hi,

Yes. If she's receiving Social Security disability benefits, there is no limit on the amount of money that she could have in a bank account. However, if she's receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), there is a limit of $2,000 on total countable assets (https://www.ssa.gov/ssi/).

Do I Need To Do Anything At Age 65 If I'm Getting Disbility Benefits?

I am on social security disability but I turn 65 in august. My question is do I have to do anything or does it automatically change over at 65. Do I have to fill out any paperwork ahead of time? Thanks

Hi,

Nothing will change when you turn 65. When you reach full retirement age (FRA) at age 66, your disability benefits will convert to retirement benefits at the same rate. No action on your part is required with regard to this conversion.

Can I Draw Benefits On My Husband's Record?

I am 58. My husband is 48. I am completely disabled. I an not eligible for benefits as Social Security did not recognize what I paid in on my rental property. I was disabled and not working for a full time wage since 1993. I lived on my assetts having invested in real estate wisely, not using banks but buying on contract using one property to support the other. I had 19 front doors now I have two left. I receive a house payment (having sold a house on contract) of 445.86 not much but the winter utilities are killer. This is my monthly income.

Does The Sale Or Purchase Of A House Affect My Disability Benefits?

Hi Larry. Got a question. Back in 2015 I sold my home because i was no longer able to care for it. I am disabled. Gave it away really, took a 25,000 loss. I did get 37,000. I purchased a another home with my sister and brother in law. So the money made from my house sale went into another home. My brother in law and I got approved for a loan on this other home that was 160,000. I put up 30,000 and bro in law and sis put up 12,000. Anyway we close and move in. Four month later. Sis said I was no longer needed there, that they could make it on what my bro in law makes.

Should My Wife File For Retirement Benefits While Her Disability Claim Is Pending?

My wife applied for disability almost two years ago. The first request was denied so we appealed and were informed that a federal judge would look at the case, we are waiting to hear from them on this. My questions are: 1 she turns 62 this April ,should we apply for regular s.s and take what we get, if they approve her claim would we get the back pay and then go the higher amount? Or would they say that since she has already applied that she doesn't get the back pay amount? 2 Would she qualify for Medicare right away or would there be a two year wait to get that?

Will My Mother's Disability Rate Increase When Her State Disability Stops?

My mother seemed to have been approved for Social Security Disability benefits, however the amount that is on the verification letter and the amount that was deposited into our account is about $500 less than what was estimated when we applied for the disability benefits.

The reason is likely due to an offset from the temporary state disability income she has been getting which is set to expire in July. After July she will no longer be getting the state disability benefits, only her pension and the Social Security income.
