My wife and I had got divorced in 2017 The house is now titled to her alone. But I am still on the mortgage from our original purchase together back in 2001. During the divorce she decided she wanted to split the proceeds from the house if ever sold with me 50/50 its legally part of the divorce. My question is I have been on SSDI for 3 years I live in Ohio. If she pays me like the divorce decree states will me receiving this money throw me off SSDI monthly disability? Especially since I am no longer the owner with her? Just on the mortgage together

On my application, I listed my onset date as 3-18-22. This was the day after I was fired from my last job due to too many absences due to my conditions. However, I believe I should have put an onset date of 4-18-20. All work after this date are failed work attempts (I think; please correct me if I’m wrong). Please see below:

July 2019 - April 2020 (SGA) - worked at a vet clinic
- April 18,2020 - May 2020 - stopped working due to hospitalization & residential treatment

I have a disabled son who currently works. I want to make sure that his earning don't go over the allowable SGA amount but i'm confused how to calculate his earnings. Do I calculate actual pay received per pay dates within any monthly period (1st through end of month) or do I go by what he would earn for days worked during a monthly period?

My son is 21 and just applied for Disability benefits. He became disabled at age 18. I am his mother and I too am disabled and have been receiving benefits for over 12 years now. My questions is will he receive benefits off of my record or just SSI. I currently receive $1693 a month. How much do you believe he would receive if going off of my record? Would he receive ssi and ssdi?

I receive disability benefits. With a 1099 how much money can I make a month? I understand that I can't make over 1350 a month but with a 1099 is this still true? I take care of my elderly mother in law and need the extra income to do so.

my daughter has been disabled and on RSDI,MSA now that I am retirement age social security says she gets a portion. Does she still get her RSDI plus my part of my benefit?

Hi. RSDI stands for Retirement, Survivor & Disability Insurance, so I don't know what type of benefits your daughter actually receives. I assume she's not receiving retirement benefits since she'd have have to be at least age 62 and be insured for benefits based on her own work and earnings history.

I am 67, retired, and planning to start SS retirement benefits (substantial) when I turn 70 in January 2025 (per your book and MaxiFi). My wife is 63 and will qualify for her own small SS retirement benefits plus spousal benefits. BUT: she was just diagnosed with ALS. I believe that she can apply now for SSDI benefits, which may be automatic, and that she can then get Medicare, which will help enormously. My question: if she does this (apply for SSDI now), will that goof up or reduce later SS benefits for her or for me?

Im 61 and on disability fighting cancer. I'm also on Medicare for my medical benefits . If I need to sell my home to make ends meet, can I keep my disability/medicare benefits ? Or will capital gains wipe that out?

Hi. I'm sorry to hear about your illness. Selling your home would have no adverse effect on your Medicare eligibility, nor would it affect your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefit eligibility or benefit rate. So, yes, you could keep those benefits even if you have to sell your home.
