Can I get SS disability benefits after I start receiving SSI?
Hi. My answer assumes that by SSI you're referring to Supplemental Security Income. Yes, it's possible to become eligible for Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits even if you're already collecting SSI benefits, provided that you're under your full retirement age (FRA).
How do they calculate the months you get 3 paychecks. Is it when you get paid in that month. And what if you dont go over the sga
Hi Larry, I am 63 YO and have been on SSDI for 5 years. I want to get a part time job with no intention of ever going back to full time work at this time due to my disability. My goal is to work 15 hours a week making under $900.00 / month. Is that possible without any problems from SSA? Can I do that indefinitely? How do I proceed? Do I just get a job and let them know I am working or do I just start sending my pay stubs without notification?
Hi I am on SSDI and seperated from spouse. I can't afford to live here and may move to UK. Possibly Spain or split time. I also can't afford them taking 25.5% in tax out first.
When can I be free of SSDI? When I retire? and if they take it away can I then apply for retirement early ( I am 63) so it wouldn't be too much early.
And if that happens how can I prevent tax. I am permanent.resident and not citizen. Seems unfair as I paid into the system and it should be mine and not be penalized for having to move out of US. Trying to survive here.
Hi - if a person age 57, is collecting disability payments (not SSDI) but disability through private insurance, are they at any point required to apply for SSDI? How would private disability payments be affected when a Social Security beneficiary files for Social Security benefits, either at age 62 or FRA or age 70? Thank you

I'm only getting a portion of my SSDI until my State disability runs out.then I'll received my full disability income after it runs out. Also my l st husband was on SSDI before he died we were married 15 years can I claim off of him now or do I have to wait until my current husband retires to claim off of him. Thank you Denise
So my 36 months period ends march 2023. Am I still eligible to continue to collect ssdi
Hi. I assume that you're referring to the Extended Period of Eligibility (EPE) for Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits. In that case, the answer is yes, but only if you don't earn more than the substantial gainful activity (SGA) limit after the 36 month period ends. The current SGA limit in 2022 for non-blind individuals is $1,350.
Hi Larry: my adult daughter is on disability. I plan on leaving her $50000 of my life insurance is this alright or will it effect her payments? Thank You
I am on disability, non-blind.
So my employer decided to give us all a retroactive raise, and pay all the back pay at once on the check we will get on friday (5/13/22)
My question is how do I report that? This will be a back pay of $953. from 1/1/22 - 4/24/22. Do I report it as Like a "yearly" amount or do I have to go back and adjust every pay stub? There's no option for reporting a bonus or back pay on the SSA website. And also will it affect my SGA as long as I did not go over that amount at in point during the period covered by the back pay?
Results will differ based on your specific case and filing strategy.
