Hello if I’m on SSD and go over My SGA by $40 due to a month having 5 weeks what will happen?
My brother is 53 years old and receives Social Security Disability and survivor benefits. He suffered a major head injury when he was 5 years old and was in special education classes throughout his school years. He lives independently but doesn't manage his finances, ongoing medical nor does he drive. I am his caretaker and have his power of attorney and am the representative payee with Social Security. Our parents have both passed away so it is just me taking care of him. Is there any way he can draw his Social Security based on my contributions? Victoria
my wife is 68 has fracture #3 T-spine anxiety and deprssion her Dr said to get forms to. Get perm disability what form is that
Hi. If your wife is age 68, then she can't qualify for Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits. SSDI benefits can only be paid up to when a person reaches full retirement age (FRA), at which time their SSDI benefits convert to regular Social Security retirement benefits.
After EPE is over will social security start averaging sga
I am currently on SSDI and will no longer receive children's benefits when my youngest turns 18. I am struggling financially as it is. I would like to work part time to supplement my income but have heard horror stories about people who trusted that you can work part time and not lose your benefits and insurance, only to find they are told that they can work when up for review. I want to work but I don't want to lose my benefits permanently.
Hello Larry - Will the sale of my condo and Capital Gains affect my SSDI? Is there a limit or a certain amount of Capital Gains that I will be able to receive without affecting my SSDI? Also, do family members who have been helping me with my mortgages and the expenses need to claim the portion of the proceeds that I will repay them?
Thank you very much for your help.
I am 63 and worked in the U.S for 12 years. I collect SSDI now for a long time. What happens to my income at age 65. I am a Canadian citizen
Hi. Nothing will change as a result of you turning age 65. When you reach full retirement age (FRA), which if you were born in 1958 would be age 66 & 8 months, your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits will automatically convert to regular Social Security retirement benefits. However, your benefit rate will almost certainly remain the same after the conversion occurs.
Best, Jerry
When I log into my SS account it states I’m not eligible for SS disability benefits. What are the requirements to be eligible? I’ve paid the required 40 quarters for SS when I retire. I now work for the state of CA, and my employer doesn’t offer SS payment/contributions. Would I need to pick up a small part time job to keep contributing?
I am on disability now I am 64 what happens to my disability when I get ssi will be more. I want to get a TV or a alt and be able to afford it every month can I get more from my ssdi I'm not supplemental and only get 1200
Hi. By SSI, I assume you're referring to regular Social Security retirement benefits. In that case, the answer is no. Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits do convert to regular Social Security retirement benefits when a person reaches their full retirement age (FRA), but their benefit rate does not increase when that happens.
Results will differ based on your specific case and filing strategy.
