I am 63 years-old, and I make $117,000 a year.
My husband is 67 years-old, does't works, and his SS income is $23,000 a year.
Am I entitled to apply for his 1/2 SS?Thank you
Larry I was getting unemployment before my disability claim was started I have recently been approved to draw title 2 benefits when and if I will be able to apply for title 16 benefits I'm 57 would it be best for me to wait until I'm 60
Hi. First off to define terms, Title 2 refers to Social Security benefits, whereas Title 16 refers to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments. SSI is a needs based program that's administered by Social Security.
My husband passed away and I am trying to get my widows benefits started. I can't get into a locations in Fort Myers until March. I was planning to go to my sisters in Panama City to see if they could see me any sooner. I really need to get this taken care of so that I will have income.
Larry for a person born in 1956 am I able to collect on my ex husbands social security. We we’re married more than 10 yrs.I am still working and would like to delay taking my SS until I’m 70)asking for a friend)
I am 60 years old. I have been married for 16 years with a separation for 2 years. He is 61. We have not yet gotten divorced. I want to retire at 65. Can I draw from his social security benefits at 65 and later switch to my own at full retirement age of 70?
I am 76, work full time and receive SSI RETIREMENT. Can I also collect disability due to recovery period for knee surgery??
Hi. No. Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits can't be paid after a person reaches full retirement age (FRA), nor can anyone be paid both SSDI and Social Security retirement benefits for the same month(s).
Can my wife withdraw the application for her own SS amount and then reapply for the spousal benifit ? She has not received any payments yet as they are set to start in 04/22.
thank you,
Ron
Hi Larry, I’m currently 63. Ever since I filed for spousal child-in-care benefits I’m no longer able to get future estimated benefits for myself from the SSA website. Whenever I check my online account for my future amount, it states instead that I’m already receiving benefits. My understanding was that unlike with regular spousal benefits, a child-in-care benefit does not prevent my own benefits from continuing to increase until age 70. Am I wrong?
MY spouse is now receiving SSDI benefits of 2887 month, we have an adult disabled child who collects ssdi benefits on his own record earning 1134 a month ( unable to engage in sga) who lives with us and whom I care for. I have never been employed. MFB is around 4330 a month. SSA suggested he apply on fathers record since he would be paid the higher amount, but when I apply as parent caring for disabled child benefits the disabled child already getting benefits on their own record would be reduced if MFB is split with me. Should we file for benefits for parents record?
Results will differ based on your specific case and filing strategy.
